Mark Sanchez is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League.

He is the son of Olga Sanchez and Nick Sanchez Sr. Sanchez’s father is an Orange County Fire Authority fire commander and member of the national urban search and rescue team.
His father, Nick Sanchez, was a quarterback for East Los Angeles College and later served as a sergeant in the United States Army.
Mark Sanchez’s two older brothers were both collegiate football players. Nick Jr. went to Yale University and played quarterback, while Brandon went to DePauw University and played offensive line.
Brandon became a mortgage broker and his brother Nick Jr. attended USC Law School and became a corporate attorney.

Sanchez’s NFL career began when he declared for the NFL Draft in 2009 after forgoing his senior year at USC.
He was selected as the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Sanchez quickly became the starting quarterback for the Jets and played for the team from 2009 to 2012.
During his tenure with the Jets, he helped lead the team to two consecutive AFC Championship Games in his first two seasons, a remarkable achievement for a rookie quarterback.
