On June 1, British motorcycle rider Mark Purslow died in an accident while qualifying for the Isle of Man TT races.

“We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Mark’s family, loved ones, and friends,” event organisers said in a statement released Wednesday evening, June 1. “The TT Races will go on but with Mark in mind.”
Purslow, who is a native of Llanon, Ceredigion, Wales, was on his third lap of the fourth qualifying session when he was involved in an accident at Ballagarey. He had previously lapped the Mountain Course at a speed of 120.86mph on average.

Purslow was competing in his second TT after competing in the Supersport and Lightweight events in 2017. Purslow won the lightweight race at the 2015 Manx GP on his debut. Purslow won the Manx GP lightweight race on his debut in 2015, and he had previously competed at the Classic TT.
Since 1907, races around the island off the northwest coast of England have been held, and they are among the most dangerous in motorsport, with over 250 fatalities in various events to date.
