Born in Brighton to actress Caroline Gruber and director Angelo Abela, Marisa’s upbringing was surrounded by the rich tapestry of creativity and cultural diversity.

Her father, Angelo Abela, brings a blend of Maltese-Libyan and English heritage to Marisa’s background, while her mother, Caroline Gruber, adds layers of Polish Jewish and Russian Jewish ancestry.
