Mario Biasin, the founder and chief executive of Metricon Homes, Australia’s largest detached home builder, died suddenly on Monday, May 16, 2022.

In a statement, Metricon Homes announced that passing of its founder but did not provide a cause of death.
The loss of Metricon Homes’ founder comes at a very tough time for Metricon.
Metricon employs 2500 staff and was Australia’s largest home builder in 2021, with 6052 housing starts, up from 4534 a year earlier – reflecting a surge in work on the back of incentive programs such as the federal government’s HomeBuilder payments.
Long-standing director and major shareholder Ross Palazzesi said that they were “shocked and saddened by the news.”

Mario Biasin, born in Trieste in Italy’s far north-east, was also a majority owner, with Premier Fruit Group managing director Anthony di Pietro, of soccer club Melbourne Victory.
Di Pietro said Melbourne Victory was “shocked, devastated and heartbroken” by the news.
Mario Biason died at the age of 71 and is survived by his wife Glenda Biasin and four children;
