Marina Morel Accident: This Is How It Happened – Cause Of Death

When the young rider fell during trackwork at Gulgong, she was gravely hurt.

Marina was rushed to Sydney’s Westmead Hospital, and her mother flew in from her family’s native France to be by her side.

On Saturday, her life support equipment was turned off, which was a terrible decision.

“It is with great sadness that we share that this morning trainee jockey Marina Morel passed away following a tragic accident on Tuesday,” the NSW Jockeys’ Association tweeted yesterday.

Nash Rawiller, one of dozens who paid tribute, described her as a “lovely young girl.”

“People forget how dangerous this sport is,” said Robbie Dolan, winner of the Group 1 race. “What terrible news, RIP Marina Morel, thoughts with her family and friends.”

On Saturday, jockeys competed wearing black armbands as a show of respect.
