Marilyn Monro was born on June 1, 1926, at the Los Angeles County Hospital in Los Angeles, California, United States. Her mother was Gladys Pearl Baker Monroe whose Midwestern family had migrated to California.

Marilyn Monroe has two half-siblings including Robert and Berniece whom she met at the age of twelve. Regarding her education, she schooled at Emerson Junior High School and also attended Van Nuys High School.

Marilyn Monroe spent most of her childhood in foster homes and an orphanage.  She got married at age sixteen to factory worker James Dougherty on June 19, 1942, just after her 16th birthday.

Marilyn Monroe initially began her career as a pin-up model for photographer David Conover in 1945. She rose to prominence through her acting with roles in several comedies, including As Young as You Feel and Monkey Business, as well as in the dramas Clash by Night and Don’t Bother to Knock.
