Marcus Alan Williams was born on September 8, 1996, in Corona, California, the United States to parents: Sylvester Williams and Franschell Williams.
Marcus Williams went to Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, California where played football, basketball and ran track. He was a wide receiver and defensive back for the Mustangs football team. He later committed to play college football at the University of Utah.
Marcus Williams was named first-team All-Pac-12 as a sophomore in 2015 and as a junior in 2016, he was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection after he recorded four interceptions during the regular season.
Marcus Williams finished his college career with 11 interceptions and 188 total tackles before entering the 2017 NFL Draft after the previous college football season. While ESPN ranked him as the eighth-best safety, He was ranked the fifth-best safety in the draft by Sports Illustrated and third-best free safety by NFLDraftScout.com.
Marcus Williams was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft and he was the sixth safety selected in 2017.
