Late English writer Marcus Sedgwick was born to his parents whose identity are not known to the public.

There are no records of Marcus’ parents.

Who Was Marcus Sedgwick?

Marcus Sedgwick was a professional writer, illustrator and musician, who authored many picture books, collection of myths and adult folktales.

Born on April 8, Marcus is known for the  novels Floodland, The Dark Horse and Midwinterblood.

He had won the Michael L. Printz Award from the American Library Association, the Branford Boase Award in 2001 and The Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, as a result of his contribution to children’s literature.

The novel Midwinterblood was named the “best book written for teens”, in 2015.

Marcus’ success journey began when he worked as a bookseller at the children’s bookstore Heffers, and at the children’s publishing house Ragged Bear.

Afterwards, he wrote his first book, Floodland, which follows the story of Zoe, who lived on an island in England just before the global warming struck.

His graphic novel, Dark Satanic Mills, was published in 2013, and in 2015, he published The Ghosts of Heaven, a young adult fiction.

Marcus passed away in November 2022. He was aged 54.
