Renowned Spanish Flamenco Guitarist and Composer Manolo Sanlúcar has died. He passed away on August 27, 2022, in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain aged 78.

According to Medico Topics, in 2021 and at age 77, Sancular was hospitalised in Jerez (Cádiz) for a multi-organ failure after having a fainting spell at his Sanlcar home, which occured hours after his wife, Ana, had been treated there for a stroke, which had no lasting effects; the only time his wife was in the media spotlight.

Sancular was considered one of the most important Spanish composers of recent times, and together with Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, and Vicente Amigo, one of the main figures in the evolution of the flamenco guitar.

Sancular is a recipient of the National Music Award and his career featured popular symphonic compositions, an opera, and iconic works for the National Ballet, such as “Medea,” or for the Antonio Saura film “Sevillanas.”

Sancular was born on November 21, 1943, in Sanlcar de Barrameda (Cádiz).
