Man Buns to Death After Failed Attempt to Strangle Wife in Abeka

In a tragic incident that shocked residents of Abeka in the Greater Accra Region, a man reportedly took his own life after a failed attempt to strangle his wife.

The distressing event unfolded in the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2024, when the husband, identified as Collins Jones, allegedly launched a violent attack on his wife, Martina Jones.

According to Martina, Collins assaulted her while she slept, hitting her head with a large stick, causing significant injury and profuse bleeding.

He then attempted to strangle her, but Martina managed to break free and flee to safety with the help of concerned neighbours.

Faced with imminent consequences for his actions, Collins resorted to extreme measures and set himself on fire inside their home.

Neighbours rushed to the scene and found Collins in critical condition. He was promptly transported to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Martina, a 38-year-old mother of three, recounted the terrifying ordeal to Adom News, expressing her shock and trauma over the incident.

The Abeka Police have launched an investigation into the matter, aiming to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic events that have deeply affected the community.
