Malcolm Brogdon Parents: Meet Jann Adams and Mitchell G. Brogdon

Malcolm Brogdon was a highly sought-after recruit who chose to play basketball at the University of Virginia over offers from other schools such as Arkansas, Georgia, and Notre Dame.

He sustained a significant foot injury during his college career, forcing him to redshirt his second year. He did, however, go on to become a key contributor to the team’s winning seasons in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

During the 2015-16 season, Brogdon was named to the Naismith Trophy midseason watchlist, which is given to the best collegiate basketball player in the country. That season, he was named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and first-team All-American.

Brogdon earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Virginia, and his collegiate jersey number, 15, was retired in his honor.

Brogdon was traded to the Indiana Pacers in 2019 but was eventually traded to the Boston Celtics in 2022, where he is now.

Malcolm Brogdon, a point guard and shooting guard for the Indiana Pacers, was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Mitchell G. Brogdon, an attorney, and Jann Adams, the dean of science and math at Morehouse College.

Gino and John Brogdon are the couple’s two older sons. Gino practices law in Atlanta, Georgia, while John works as an associate attorney for the City of Atlanta.
Brogdon’s parents split when he was 11 years old.
