Mal Meninga siblings: Meet Bevan Meninga

Bevan Meninga is the brother of Mal Meninga, who has spent over two decades behind bars for a murder crime.

Bevan had murdered Sunshine Coast teenager Cheree Richardson in 1991 when he was just 20 years of age.

While in prison, he had an affair with a female prison guard, and their relationship produced a daughter.

Who Is Mal Meninga?

Mal Meninga began his professional playing career in 1979 in the Brisbane Rugby League, making his debut for the Queensland State of Origin team in 1980.

He made his international debut for the Australian national team in 1982 and went on to represent his country in 46 test matches, scoring a record of 278 points.

In 1986, Meninga began playing for the Canberra Raiders in the National Rugby League (NRL), where he remained until his retirement in 1994.

After retiring as a player, Meninga turned to coaching, initially serving as an assistant coach for the Canberra Raiders from 1997 to 2001.

In 2006, he was appointed head coach of the Queensland State of Origin team, and led lthem to winning eight consecutive series.

Meninga later began coaching the Australian national team, and led them to winning the Rugby League World Cup, four Nations tournaments, and the 2019 World Cup Nines.

In 2022, Meninga enlisted the Australia squad for the Rugby League World Cup.
