Mal Meninga began his Rugby career as a goal-kicking centre for the Southern Suburbs, and ended up playing for both Australia and England for many years
His playing career saw him play for the Southern Suburbs, St Helens, Canberra Raiders, Brisbane, South Queensland, Australia, and President’s XIII .

Meninga served as captain of the Queensland State of Origin team for three seasons, where he became a top goal scorer. Also, he is the only player to be selected for four Kangaroo Tours, and to have captained two Kangaroo tours since the 90s.
Meninga retired as the player with the most appearances in the history of Australia, and was honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia, and the Rugby League Hall of Fame induction.
After coaching several teams, Meninga began coaching the Australian team in 2016 and led the team to win the Rugby League World Cup in 2017. In 2022, Meninga enlisted the Australia squad for the Rugby League World Cup.
