Mal Meninga is a former rugby league player, and a rugby league coach who serves as current head coach of the Australian national team.

Born on July 8, 1960, in Queensland, Australia, Meninga played for both Australia and England for many years as a goal-kicking centre.

During his playing career, Meninga had served as captain of the Australian national team for 23 Test matches between 1990 and 1994.

He also served as captain of the Queensland State of Origin team for three seasons, where he became a top goal scorer. Also, he is the only player to be selected for four Kangaroo Tours, and to have captained two Kangaroo tours since the 90s.

As a player, Meninga played for the Southern Suburbs, St Helens, Canberra Raiders, Brisbane, South Queensland, Australia, and President’s XIII .

Meninga retired as the player with the most appearances in the history of Australia, and was honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia.

He has also been inducted into the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame.
