Madeleine Madden Parents: Meet Hetti Perkins, Lee Madden

Madeleine Madden is an Australian actress known for her work in film and television. She the daughter of Hetti Perkins and Lee Madden

Her mother Hetti Perkins is an art curator and writer. For thirteen years, her mother was the curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, until she left in 2011.

Hetti Perkins served on the International Selection Committee for the Sydney Biennale in 2000. In 2010, she produced a three-part ABC documentary called Art + Soul, which aired on ABC in October 2010.

Madeleine Madden is the great-granddaughter of Arrernte elder Hetty Perkins and the granddaughter of activist and soccer star Charles Perkins. In 2003, her father was killed in a car accident.

Madden became the first teenager in Australia to deliver a national address in 2010, at the age of 13, when she made a two-minute statement about the future of Indigenous Australians.

She starred in the miniseries Tomorrow, When the War Began, based on the John Marsden series of young adult novels, in 2016. She is now starring in Amazon’s adaptation of The Wheel of Time novels as Egwene al’Vere.
