He believes his nominated song met all the criteria required by the awards board to win the category, but Amerado was declared the winner instead.
During an interview on TV3’s New Day on Friday, May 24, Lyrical Joe stated that he felt cheated by the Ghana Music Awards board.

He argued that his nominated songs are of high quality, with one track being nearly ten minutes long, accompanied by a music video showcasing various rap techniques and wordplay.
Lyrical Joe asserted that whenever one of his songs is nominated in the category and does not win, he feels unfairly treated.
In 2022, Amerado won the Best Rap Performance category with his song “Obiaa boa,” beating out competition from other notable rappers such as Medikal, Strongman, Lyrical Joe, and Teephlow.
