American Basketball player and one of the pioneers of women’s basketball, Lusia Harris, passed away on January 18, 2022.

Before she died, Harris was survived by two sons, Eddie and Christopher, and a set of twin daughters- Crystal and Christina.
Eddie is the first child and he is 28 years old, Christopher is 20, while Crystal and Christina are 22.

Harris led Delta State into three consecutive championships from 1975-1977 for Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW). She was the first woman to score a basket at the Olympics in 1976 and in that year, the U.S won a silver medal.

The queen of basketball was the first woman ever to be drafted by the National Basketball Association (NBA), a men’s professional basketball league. For her achievements, Harris was inducted into the Naismith memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
Harris was confined to a wheelchair as a result of rheumatoid arthritis. She died at the age of 66.
