At the end of the season, the Football Writers Association of America named Van Ness a Freshman All-American.

He was named Big Ten Conference Special Teams Player of the Week during his redshirt sophomore season after blocking two kicks in a 10-7 loss to Iowa State.

Lukas Van Ness plays as an outside linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Green Bay Packers.  The Green Bay Packers selected him 13th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.
