Bon on 16 February 2000, in Lisbon, Portugal, Luís Lopes started his professional career at Benfica, where he played 22 games for the B side in 2 seasons. He scored a total of 11 goals during his time there.
He signed a three-year contract deal with Aberdeen in July 2022 for an undisclosed amount.

Lopes was named Cinch Premiership Player of the Month of March in 2023. He has played for two different countries in his international career.
He represented Portugal at the Under-18 and U-19 levels and also played his first international match for Cape Verde in 2022.
For his professional club team career, he has made a total of 74 appearances so far; 42 for Benfica B and 32 for Aberdeen. He also made 5 appearances for Portugal U18 and 7 for Portugal U19. Since last year 2022, he has made just 2 appearances for Cape Verde.
