Following her death, all parliamentary activities have been suspended, as a mark of respect and honour.

Who Was Lorraine Botha?
Lorraine Botha was a South African politician and member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP), since 2014.
Botha was also a member of the Democratic Alliance, and had only served as the chief whip of the DA caucus for three months before her death.

She had been elected to replace Mireille Wenger, who rose to a Provincial Cabinet member.
Before May 2022, Mireille Wenger, had been Chief Whip since 2019.
Botha chaired the Standing Committee on Education from 2019 to 2022.
Before then, she served as chairperson of the standing committee on health and social development.
Botha has also been chairperson of the standing committees on the premier and constitutional matters.
Botha is survived by family members and friends.
