A tik-tok pop-up party overwhelmed the Monmouth County beachside community on Saturday, May 21, resulting in a significant presence of police in riot gear and an emergency curfew.

After what appeared to be crowds of revellers took over the city’s Pier Village section late Saturday afternoon, multiple police and emergency vehicles arrived.

At around 5 p.m., city police issued a need for assistance, according to officials. The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, and the State Police all responded to the scene.

Authorities claimed several fights broke out, but they couldn’t say how many individuals were arrested. The municipality announced a curfew at 9 p.m. on social media. The curfew, which lasts until 5 a.m., forbids anybody from “using, standing, sitting, travelling, or being present on any public roadway or in any public location.”
