American female bodybuilder Lisa Lyon was recently transferred to a hospice in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, according to TMZ.

According to the report, she is being given hospice care after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Her condition has been described as ‘grave’ by TMZ.
Lyon helped to bring female bodybuilding into the public eye, speaking to various publications about the sport and writing a book about women’s weight training, Lisa Lyon’s Body Magic.

Lisa Lyon became a champion after winning the first International Federation of Bodybuilders Woman’s World Pro Bodybuilding Championship.
This 1979 contest was one of only two competitive bodybuilding competitions that she entered. Despite her short-lived championship career she continued to promote bodybuilding.
In 2000, she was inducted into the International Federation of Bodybuilding Hall of Fame for being “a one-woman media-relations activist on behalf of the sport and elevating bodybuilding to the level of fine art.”
