Link Wray faced health challenges during his life. He served as an Army medic during the Korean War and contracted tuberculosis during his tour of duty. As a result of this illness, he lost a lung in 1956. Despite these health setbacks, Wray continued to pursue his musical career with determination.

In the later years of his life, Wray battled health issues. He ultimately passed away on November 5, 2005, at the age of 76. The cause of death was heart failure.
