Linda Ikeji Clarifies Controversy Over Son’s Surname

Famous Nigerian blogger Linda Ikeji has addressed the controversy surrounding her son taking her surname instead of his father’s.

The issue gained attention when netizens speculated that Ikeji had changed her son’s surname after she referred to him as Jayce Ikeji in a recent post. In the post, she wrote about Jayce and his cousin, Ryan Kanu, enjoying a trip to Disney/Marvel Paris together.

“Jayce Ikeji and Ryan Kanu take Disney/Marvel Paris. Cousins, best friends, and literally growing up together as brothers. Their love for each other is incredible, and when they can help it, are inseparable! Ryan is literally the best little human ever! They’ve been on a few vacations together in the past, but this is the first one they will remember as they are nearly 6 and 7 now,” she wrote.

Linda Ikeji took to her Instagram page to clarify that she never changed her son’s name. She stated that he has always been an Ikeji since birth. However, she added that if her son wishes to change his surname in the future, it would be his decision to make.

“Just to be clear. I’ve NEVER ever had to change my son’s surname. He’s been an Ikeji right from when he was born! Where do I have the time or patience to be changing names? Changing or keeping his surname (Ikeji) will be up to him when he is of age,” she wrote.
