Lilian Thuram is a retired professional footballer from France, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest French footballers of all time and one of the best defenders of his generation.

Thuram began his football career at AS Monaco in France and later played for Parma in Italy, the Italian club, Juventus, Portugais de Fontainebleau, Melun, and Barcelona.

While playing for Juventus, Thuram won the Serie A championships and qualified for the UEFA Champions League final.

Furthermore, Thuram represented the French national team from 1994 to 2008, and played a significant role in France’s victory in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, scoring two  goals in the semifinal.

He also won 142 caps for France, making him the most-capped player in French football history at the time.

Thuram retired in 2008 and has since been involved in philanthropic and social initiatives, especially in the fight against racism and discrimination.
