Lewis Niles Black is an American. Lewis Black was born on August 30, 1948, in Washington, D.C., United States of America.  In Washington, D.C., Lewis Black worked at the Appalachian Regional Commission and began performing stand-up comedy.

Lewis Black’s career in theater took off as a playwright. He wrote the musical “The Czar of Rock and Roll” in 1990. Black became a regular contributor to “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart, delivering his signature “Back in Black” commentary segment.

In 2015, Lewis Black lent his voice to the character Anger in the Pixar film “Inside Out” and will reprise the role in the sequel, “Inside Out 2”. Lewis Black is also a spokesperson for the Aruba Tourism Authority, appearing in television ads.

Lewis Black has been an “ambassador for voting rights” for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) since 2013. When not touring, Black resides in Manhattan but also maintains a residence in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
