Lewis Black grew up in a middle-class Jewish family in the Burnt Mills neighborhood of Silver Spring, Maryland. Lewis Black attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he studied playwriting.

In 2015, Lewis Black lent his voice to the character Anger in the Pixar film “Inside Out” and will reprise the role in the sequel, “Inside Out 2”. Lewis Black is also a spokesperson for the Aruba Tourism Authority, appearing in television ads.
