Lester Piggott was born to Ernest Keith Piggott and Lilian Iris Rickaby in Wantage, Berkshire, England, on November 5, 1935, and died on May 29, 2022. Lester Piggott was named after an award called “The Lesters” which is an annual jockey awarded in Great Britain.

Lester Piggott had a number of health problems but the most notable one was his heart problems. Lester Piggott spent a number of times in hospitals and even spent some period of time in an intensive care unit at a hospital in Switzerland.

Lester Piggott also suffered some partial deafness defects and a minor speech impediment at some point in his life.
