Steven Nzonzi was substituted by Ugochukwu in the 89th minute to make his debut in a competitive match after five failed attempts. He was included against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, Reims and Nantes, home and away against Sevilla. With Gernot Rohr keeping an eye on his development, the teenager signed his first professional deal with Rennes at the age of 16.

At the age of 16, he entered into a professional contract, which the club confirmed on July 1, 2020. In 2023, his contract will be up. Before making his debut against Dijon on Sunday, Ugochukwu played for the Rennes Reserve Team and appeared in five games.
