Leonard Maltin Illness: What happened to Leonard Maltin?

American film critic, Leonard Maltin has been battling with Parkinson’s disease for several years. In July 2018, he announced that he had been diagnosed with the disease three years before that.

“Yesterday my dad received a phone call from a colleague at @AARP asking for comments regarding @alanalda’s Parkinson’s announcement. Well. Alan inspired my dad to tell his own story. Almost 4 years ago my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s,” his daughter Jessie shared on Twitter in 2018.

“I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s almost 4 years ago—and no one is ever prepared to hear those words. I’m generally a private person, sharing this with the world is a daunting thing to do. Still. Here we are. I’m healthy, I’m determined, and I’m grateful,” he also added in a quoted tweet.

Maltin also shared that his illness had affected his very active professional life. However, he added that he came out publicly after seeing the likes of Michael J. Fox and Alan Alda who also shared that they are living with Parkinson’s.
