Leigh Taylor-Young, the versatile and Emmy-winning American actress, has not only left an indelible mark on the stage, screen, podcast, radio, and television but has also had her share of high-profile relationships, including a marriage to Hollywood agent, producer, and studio head Guy McElwaine.

In 1978, Leigh Taylor-Young embarked on her second marriage journey, tying the knot with Guy McElwaine. However, like her previous marriage, this union also ended in divorce. Despite the personal challenges, both Taylor-Young and McElwaine continued to contribute significantly to the entertainment industry in their respective roles.

Guy McElwaine’s career trajectory was impressive and left a lasting impact on Hollywood. Before venturing into the entertainment world, McElwaine played Minor League Baseball as a teenager, showcasing his versatility even in his early years. He transitioned from baseball to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s publicity department in 1959, marking the beginning of his foray into the film industry.

In 1964, McElwaine established his own PR firm, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. His journey continued as he became an agent at Creative Management Associates (CMA) in 1969. Notably, McElwaine played a pivotal role as the first agent of legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. He later became vice president of worldwide production at Warner Bros. and, after a brief departure, rejoined CMA.

As Hollywood continued to evolve, McElwaine became a founding partner of International Creative Management (ICM) when CMA merged with International Famous Agency in 1975. His influence and expertise in the industry were further demonstrated when he rejoined ICM in 1988. In 2002, McElwaine took on the role of president at Morgan Creek Entertainment, contributing to the production of various films.

Tragically, Guy McElwaine’s journey came to an end in 2008 when he succumbed to pancreatic cancer. His legacy, however, lives on in the annals of Hollywood history, marking a chapter in the industry’s growth and evolution.
