Lee Radziwill Third Husband: Meet Herbert Ross

Lee Radziwiłł’s romantic journey took a new turn on September 23, 1988, when she entered her third marriage, becoming the second wife of the renowned American movie director and choreographer Herbert Ross.

This union added another layer to the multifaceted life of the American socialite, marking a chapter of shared experiences in the world of cinema and beyond.

Herbert Ross, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, left an indelible mark with his contributions to film and theater. Nominated for two Academy Awards and a Tony Award, Ross was recognized for his directorial skills in various genres.

His directorial portfolio included musicals and comedies like “Goodbye, Mr. Chips” (1969), “The Owl and the Pussycat” (1970), “Play It Again, Sam” (1972), “The Sunshine Boys,” “Funny Lady” (both 1975), “The Goodbye Girl” (1977), “California Suite” (1978), and “Pennies From Heaven” (1981).

Later in his career, he directed notable films such as “Footloose” (1984) and “Steel Magnolias” (1989). One of the pinnacle moments in Ross’s career came with the drama “The Turning Point” (1977), earning him two Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Director.

He also received the Golden Globe Award for Best Director for his outstanding work. Tragically, Herbert Ross passed away on October 9, 2001, succumbing to heart failure in New York City.

A memorial service held at the Majestic Theater on West 44th Street in New York saw luminaries from the entertainment world, including Leslie Browne, Barbara Cook, Arthur Laurents, Marsha Mason, Mike Nichols, and Mary-Louise Parker, paying tribute to Ross.

His final resting place at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles. The union of Lee Radziwiłł and Herbert Ross, though concluding in divorce, became a significant chapter in the life of the American socialite and the illustrious career of the talented director.
