Beeban Kidron is a film director and the wife of English author Lee Hall.

Kidron who began writing documentaries in the 80s, had co-directed the film Hippie Hippie Shake.

She also doubles as a child right advocate and serves as Chair of 5Rights Foundation, which is deeply involved in using film to educate children.

Kidron has directed an adaptation of the autobiography Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.

She has been married to Hall since 2003 and has two children from her first marriage.

Who Is Lee Hall?

Lee Hall is a British playwright, screenwriter, and lyricist, known for writing the book and lyrics for the stage musical version of Billy Elliot as well as the screenplay for the movie Billy Elliot.

Born on September 20 1966, in Newcastle, United Kingdom, Hall is also the brain behind the script for plays The Pitmen Painters (2007), and Rocketman (2019).

Hall studied English literature at Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge and Benfield School in Walkergate.

Hall began his career as a playwright in 1997, with the airing of his radio play, Spoonface Steinberg, on BBC Radio 4.

Since then, Hall refused to rest on his laurels, writing several books, musicals and screenplays such as the film adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse, an adaptation of Nigel Slater’s Autobiography Toast, and many other works.
