Michel’s mother, Edith, is Italian-American with Roman ancestry. Her maiden name is Porcelli.

Edith is a devout Catholic, who used to work as a retired nurse.

Michele’s father, Mark, is a real estate agent and former delicatessen owner.

Mark is a Sephardic Jew with Judaeo-Spanish-speaking ancestors from Thessaloniki, Greece.

Lea Michele is a popular actress, singer, songwriter, and author, known for appearing in the famous TV series Glee from 2009 to 2015.

Her role in the series had won her four People’s Choice Awards, three Teen Choice Awards and a Satellite Award.

She also earned an Emmy Award nomination, and two Golden Globe nominations.

Born on August 29, 1986, in New York city, Michele began her acting journey as a child actress.

She appeared on many Broadway, productions such as Les Misérables (1995–1996), Ragtime (1997–1999), Fiddler on the Roof (2004–2005), and Spring Awakening (2006–2008).

After the series Glee shot her to fame, Michele went on to star in the Fox series Scream Queens (2015–2016) and in the ABC sitcom The Mayor (2017).

As a part-time singer, Michele came under Columbia Records in 2012, and the following year, she released her debut single titled “Cannonball”.

Other subsequent studio albums she released include Louder (2014), Places (2017), Christmas in the City (2019), all of which made it to the Billboard top 200.

In addition, Michele has authored two books – Brunette Ambition (2014) and You First: Journal Your Way to Your Best Life (2015).

As of 2022, Michele appeared in the Broadway musical revival of Funny Girl.
