Cox came to fame after she starred in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.
She is the first transgender individual to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in an acting category, and the first to be nominated for an Emmy Award, the last being in 1990.
Cox is also the first transgender individual to grace the cover of Time magazine, Cosmopolitan magazine, and to be wax figured at Madame Tussauds.
Cox has been a contestant on the reality show I Want to Work for Diddy, and co-hosted the TV series TRANSform Me.
The award-winning actress has a Daytime Emmy Award in her name, and is the first transgender woman to win the award.
