Mark Harries and Kate Harries are the parents of Lauren Harries, an English media personality who gained widespread fame as a child due to her knowledge of antiques. She also appeared on numerous television shows including Wogan and After Dark.

Born James Charles Harries to her parents on 6th March 1978 in Surrey, Harries began making television appearances in August 1988 on Terry Wogan’s chat show, Wogan.
Lauren’s father Mark Harries, worked in the hotel business and catering trade. Her mother’s occupation is not known.
The family relocated to Cardiff when Harries was still a baby.
As a child, Harries had been taken by her family to see a doctor because she displayed feminine mannerisms.

Later, Harries decided to transition from male to female, change her name to Lauren Charlotte, and investigated gender reassignment surgery, which was carried out in 2001, with funding generated from publicity arranged by Max Clifford.
In the recession of the early 1990s, the family’s businesses failed. One family shop was destroyed by fire, and her father was convicted of insurance fraud. Harries sold some of her collections to assist in the support of the family.
On 8 July 2005, a group of five to seven men attacked Harries, her father and her brother in the family home.
On 14 April 2023, Harries’ mother alleged that the former had been recovering in hospital from emergency brain surgery.
