Laura Jane Grace is an American musician and songwriter.

She is the daughter of Thomas Gabel and Bonnie Gabel. He father Thomas Gabel was a United States Army major.
Due to their father’s military job, the family relocated frequently between military stations, briefly residing in Fort Hood, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Germany, and at a NATO installation in Naples, Italy, during the Gulf War.
Grace purchased her first guitar via Sears mail order when she was eight years old, while living in Italy, with money saved from sweeping lawns. Grace began taking guitar lessons from an army officer’s wife, but eventually taught herself.
Her parents divorced when she was 12 years old, and she and her brother moved with their mother from Naples, Italy where their father remained to Florida to live with their maternal grandmother.

Against Me! was formed by Laura Jane Grace in 1997, and the band gained prominence for their raw, anthemic punk sound and socially conscious lyrics.
Aside from her work with Against Me!, Laura Jane Grace has also pursued various solo projects. She released her debut solo studio album, Stay Alive, in 2020.
