Born as Latifa Bint Alaya El Arfaoui in Manouba, Tunisia, her musical prowess is a testament to her dedication, passion, and the influences that have shaped her career.
In 1983, Latifa faced a pivotal moment in her life when her father passed away. Seeking solace and a change of scenery, Latifa, alongside her family, embarked on a trip to Egypt to find respite and mourn.
Little did she know that this trip would become a turning point in her musical journey. During her stay in Egypt, Latifa had a fortuitous encounter with the renowned composer Baligh Hamdi.
Recognizing her potential, Hamdi advised her to relocate to Egypt to enhance her musical career. However, Latifa had other aspirations at that time, primarily concentrating on her education.

Latifa enrolled in college in Tunisia, delving into the study of Dutch literature for a year and a half. However, her family’s unwavering support and determination to foster her talent prompted them to finance her return to Egypt.
She subsequently left her studies in Tunisia and joined the Arab Academy of Music in Egypt, where she successfully completed her bachelor’s degree and is reported to be preparing for her master’s degree.
Latifa’s time at the Academy became a transformative period in her career, marked by a fortuitous encounter with composer Mohammed Abdel Wahab. Impressed by her voice, Abdel Wahab discovered Latifa through her radio performances.
Although she initially focused on performing long Tarab songs, her musical trajectory underwent a significant shift when she collaborated with composer Ammar El Sherei and poet Abdulwahab Muhammed, both instrumental in shaping her evolving style.
