Lasse Wellander Parents: Who were Åke Wellander and Anne-Marie Eriksson?

Åke Wellander and Anne-Marie Eriksson were the parents of Swedish musician and guitarist, Lasse Wellander. There is very little to no information about them.

Wellander began his professional career as a guitarist when he was only 16 years old in Peps & Blues Quality. He joined other bands including Zkiffs, Low Budget Blues Band, Little Mike, the Sweet Soul Music Band, and more.

He joined ABBA in 1975 as a guitarist and helped the group achieve several hit songs including Voulez Vous, Take A Chance On Me, and Knowing Me, Knowing You. 

In 2001, he performed on the group’s comeback record Voyage and also helped developed the soundtrack to the film version of musical Mamma Mia.

As a solo artist, he released quite a few albums including his 2006 hit album, Simple Ticket. He was a recipient of numerous awards including the Royal Swedish Academy of Music Award (2005) and the Swedish Musicians’ Union Special Prize (2008).

He died on April 9, 2023, due to cancer. He was 70 years old.
