Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan has announced additional COVID-19 emergency actions on January 4, 2022. The news conference comes after cases for COVID-19 surge and testing for the virus became troublesome.

Maryland has hit a record high of 3,057 COVID hospitalisation, which is an increase of more than 500% in the last 7 weeks. The COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations prompted the governor to declare a 30-day emergency declaration.

On January 3, 2022, Maryland saw more than 14,000 new cases in one day. 3,057 are currently hospitalised with COVID-19 in the country as well and an increase of nearly 300 during the past 24 hours.
The Governor says hospitalisation could hit 5,000. To help combat the testing shortage, 20 additional COVID-19 testing sites will be opened across the state. He is also urging everyone in the country to get the vaccine and booster if already vaccinated.
