Larry Allen 40 time

Well, despite his size, Allen was freaking athletic and fast. Faster than you or me. He ran a 4.85 40-yard dash at Sonoma State, according to The Dallas Morning …

Larry Allen Bench Press

By 1998, dominating his offensive line position for the Dallas Cowboys, he could bench press more than 600 and squat 800. There’s a video of him in the Cowboys’ weight room, benching 635 then 675 then 705.

Larry Allen Weight Loss

During the 2001 offseason, Allen cleared 705 pounds in the bench press. “I was in the weight room when he did it,” said Campo, the Cowboys’ head coach from 2000-02. “The bar was bent when he hoisted it up there. That was unbelievable. Guys went crazy when he did it.” If that moment in the weight room became symbolic of Allen’s strength, the play that he made at the Superdome in December of his rookie season became symbolic of his speed. Allen was playing right tackle when Aikman’s pass toward the right sideline was batted into the air. The ball was intercepted by linebacker Darion Conner, a 6-foot-2 1/2, 245-pound second-round draft choice in 1990 whose 40 time was 4.77 coming out of Jackson State. From a flat-footed start and at a bad angle, Allen sped after Conner before catching him inside the 20 after a 56-yard return.
