Lamar Hunt was an American sports entrepreneur and founder of the American Football League (AFL). He was born on August 2, 1932, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to parents Haroldson Lafayette Hunt Sr. and Lyda Bunker Hunt.

His father, Haroldson Lafayette Hunt Sr., was a highly successful and prominent oil tycoon and entrepreneur. He made his fortune in the oil industry and became one of the wealthiest men in the United States during his time.

Lamar Hunt’s mother, Lyda Bunker Hunt, was married to Haroldson Lafayette Hunt Sr. as his second wife. She came from a wealthy family herself and was the daughter of a successful businessman. Lyda Bunker Hunt was actively involved in her husband’s business endeavours and supported him in various aspects of his ventures.
