Kurt Angle Parents: Meet Dave Angle, Jackie Angle

Kurt Angle is a retired professional wrestler and former amateur wrestler from the United States. He is the son of Dave Angle and Jackie Angle.

Kurt Angle’s father, a crane operator, was killed in a construction accident when he was 16 years old, and he dedicated both his career and his autobiography to him.

Angle stated in an interview that after his father died, he looked up to his wrestling coach, David Schultz, as a father figure. Schultz was murdered in January 1996 while training Angle by John Eleuthère du Pont, the sponsor of Schultz’s Olympic team.

Kurt Angle’s mother passed away from cancer in 2015. He is descended from Italians, Irish, English, Germans, and Lithuanians. He has four older brothers one of whom, Eric, is also a wrestler and a deceased sister, Le’Anne.

Before entering professional wrestling, Kurt Angle had a successful amateur wrestling career. He won numerous championships, including an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia.

After leaving WWE in 2006, Angle competed in other wrestling promotions, including Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (now Impact Wrestling) and later returned to WWE in 2017 as part of their Hall of Fame class. He retired from professional wrestling in 2019.
