Mission Impossible actress Kristin Scott was born to her parents, Deborah Scott Thomas and Simon Scott Thomas.

Kristin’s mother, Deborah, grew up in Hong Kong and Africa. She is the granddaughter of William Scott Thomas, “who commanded HMS Impulsive during World War II.”

Following the death of her husband, Kristin’s father, she remarried Lieutenant Commander Simon Idiens, a Royal Navy pilot, who also died in a flying accident, like her former husband.

Kristin’s father, Simon, was a Lieutenant Commander, and a pilot in the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm.

He died in a flying accident at a time when Kristin was just five years old.

Who Is Kristin Scott?

Kristin Scott Thomas is an actress known for starring as Fiona in the 1994 romantic comedy “Four Weddings and a Funeral.”

Born on May 24 1960, in Redruth Cornwall, Scott attended the Central School of Speech and Drama, and later “studied acting at the École Nationale supérieure des arts et techniques du théâtre (ENSATT), in Paris.”

At age 25, Scott played Mary Sharon in the film Under the Cherry Moon (1986), after which she appeared in several other films like A Handful of Dust (1988), Bitter Moon (1992), Mission: Impossible (1996), The Horse Whisperer (1998), Gosford Park (2001), The Valet (2006), Tell No One (2007), and I’ve Loved You So Long (2008).

Other films in which she starred include include Leaving (2009), Love Crime (2010), Sarah’s Key (2010), Nowhere Boy (2010), The Woman in the Fifth (2011), Only God Forgives (2013), Darkest Hour (2017), Tomb Raider (2018), Talking Heads (2021), and Slow Horses (2022).

Scott is a five-time BAFTA Award, Academy Award and Olivier Award nominee, and winner of the same awards.

In 2003, Scott was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), and in 2015, she was honored as Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE).

In 2022, Scott announced that she would be directing the film My Mother’s Wedding.
