The Krachi East Municipality in the Oti region is shrouded in sorrow following the untimely demise of its Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Bernard Aborkugya Mensah.

The somber news was reported by Adom News‘ Obremponba K. Owusu, revealing that the unfortunate incident occurred on Friday, April 5, 2025, during the afternoon hours.
Mr. Aborkugya Mensah’s passing transpired tragically while he was addressing attendees at a matriculation program held at the Dambai College of Education.
Reports indicate that he suddenly fell unconscious during his speech, prompting immediate efforts to rush him to the Worawora Government Hospital.
However, despite these efforts, he succumbed to his condition en route to the medical facility.
This sorrowful event comes as a devastating blow to the Krachi East community, marking less than two years since Mr. Aborkugya Mensah assumed the role of Municipal Chief Executive.

He took over the position following the untimely demise of his predecessor, Francis Kofi Okesu, who passed away under mysterious circumstances in Kumasi.
The circumstances surrounding the passing of Mr. Okesu in 2022 remain shrouded in mystery. His body was discovered on Sunday, September 4, 2022, in a hotel room where he had checked in for the weekend.
Although seen engaging with individuals on Saturday, Mr. Okesu failed to emerge from his room the following day. Concerned hotel staff alerted the authorities, leading to the discovery of his lifeless body.
The solemn discovery revealed Mr. Okesu lying unclothed on the bed, with traces of a whitish substance suspected to be semen observed on his thighs.
Following investigations, Mr. Okesu was laid to rest at his residence in Dambai Community One in the Oti Region in November 2022.
