The lawsuit, lodged at the high court on Monday, May 27, asserts that Prof. Addai-Mensah’s personal and professional reputation has been significantly harmed by false and damaging statements made by Lawyer Adofo, which were publicly circulated.
The CEO of KATH is seeking GH¢5 million in damages, along with a retraction and a public apology from Lawyer Adofo.
Adofo had previously provided legal services for KATH until December 2023.

According to parts of the lawsuit, “The plaintiff claims that the post by the defendant on his Facebook wall has greatly damaged the plaintiff’s hard-earned reputation, and he has even been contacted by the King of the Asante on the matter. The false and reckless statements made by the defendant continue to diminish his esteem in the eyes of right-thinking Ghanaians, and his integrity in academia has been significantly impacted.”
This legal action follows an earlier petition by Adofo to President Akufo-Addo, calling for the removal of Prof. Addai-Mensah from office. Adofo alleges financial mismanagement and incompetence against the hospital’s CEO, citing substantial evidence.
In a previous interview with Asaase News, Adofo accused Prof. Addai-Mensah of misappropriating GH¢300,000 and violating procurement processes, raising concerns about his management capabilities and integrity.
In response, KATH has defended its CEO, refuting the allegations as baseless and inaccurate.
