Nigeria’s music scene is witnessing a clash between two of its biggest stars, Kizz Daniel and Tekno, regarding the proceeds from their hit song “Buga.”

The controversy started when Tekno responded to an interview that allegedly quoted him saying he received nearly a billion Naira from Kizz Daniel as proceeds from “Buga.”
However, Tekno denied the claim, stating that Kizz Daniel does not possess such wealth. In retaliation, Kizz Daniel argued that the song rescued Tekno’s career.
“Buga,” a massive hit released in 2022, has amassed over 200 million views on YouTube and gained global popularity.
Reports circulated, suggesting that Kizz Daniel sent Tekno 50% of every revenue generated from the song, amounting to over one billion Naira.
Tekno took to Twitter to address the issue, stating, “He doesn’t have that much money. Thunder will strike whoever put out that fake interview.”

Kizz Daniel replied: “Dem mention money you sef dey talk… spewing shit like anus. See ekuke way we rescue with BUGA!! Oloribu omo ale.”

Tekno hit back: “Hope you are trending now fool! Careful o, breeze blow foul nyash dey open. I’m not the one to be played with.”
Some industry observers speculate that the dispute could be a media stunt to generate buzz for upcoming shows or singles, as entertainers often resort to controversy for promotion.
