Blom, passed away in August 2022, after a long battle with cancer. He was aged 52.

His death news was confirmed by his partner, singer Annica Milán. She said Blom had been diagnosed with a rare conjunctival melanoma in 2015.

“Rock singer Kimmo Blom has died”. This was shocking information. Rest in peace. You were an unimaginably talented singer and an exceptionally kind-hearted person. My condolences to the loved ones”, she wrote on Twitter.

Sometime in 2019, the late singer had disclosed his condition to the public during an interview:

“I’ve had surgery, I’ve had radiotherapy and I’ve had a check-up three months later. It has been said that the man is clean, he will feel good, after three months there will be another checkup and cancer will be found again”, he had said.

Who Was Kimmo Blom?

Kimmo Blom was a singer and stage artist born on January 31, 1970.

Blom was known for singing with rock and metal bands such as Urban Tale, Boys of the Band, Heartplay, Stratovarius, Thunderstone, Kiuas, Ari Koivunen, Timo Tolkki’s Avalon, and Twilight Guardians.

For years, he has performed in the Finnish Christmas metal project Raskasta Joulua and has been lead vocalist of melodic metal band Leverage.

In 2015, Blom came 5th place at the Eurovision song contest, after he represented Finland, performing the song “All For Victory”.

The following year again, he came 5th place at the Eurovision song contest, representing Finland, after performing the song “Good Enough”, together with Annica Milán.
