Sumiko, her mother, is Japanese, and Mark, her father, is of Scottish, Irish, and German origin. Kimiko Glenn began performing in fifth grade at the Valley Youth Theatre in Phoenix and other area theatres.
She went to Desert Vista High School in Phoenix and Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan. She was a musical theatre major at the Boston Conservatory for a year before dropping out when she was cast in the touring company of Spring Awakening.

Kimiko Glenn’s breakout role came in the Netflix original series “Orange Is the New Black,” where she portrayed the character Brook Soso. She appeared in the show from 2014 to 2019, showcasing her acting skills and earning praise for her performance as an inmate navigating life in a women’s prison.
In addition to her work on “Orange Is the New Black,” Kimiko Glenn has been involved in various theater productions. She made her Broadway debut in the musical “Waitress” in 2015, taking on the role of Dawn. Her performance in the show received positive reviews, showcasing her singing abilities alongside her acting talent.
