Abbasov began his martial arts career with Greco-Roman wrestling before venturing into boxing. At age 18, he became a professional boxer and went on to rank world number 175 in the middleweight division.
Abbasov recorded so many victories in his career. When he made his way to Russia, he won two world championships.
In 2018, he made an remarkable 10-bout win streak with six stoppages and qualified for the ONE Championship.
The same year, Abbasov knocked out Japanese martial arts legend Yushin Okami and Zebaztian Kadestam, and won the ONE Welterweight World Title.
In defense of his welterweight title, Abbasov recorded a win over James Nakashima, making him one of the best in MMA history.
